BOHAN provides agency talent and brand leadership for more nonprofit and community organizations than any other agency in our region. Our experience in this area includes clients such as the Land Trust for Tennessee, Christian Women’s Job Corps, the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee, the American Negro Playwright Theatre, the Martha O’Bryan Center, the Becket Fund for Religious Liberty, Salama Academy for at-risk urban youth, the University of Tennessee, Montgomery Bell Academy and Ensworth High School.
East Nashville has experienced incredible gentrification. But it is also home to some of the worst poverty in our state – as close as 400 yards away from the vibrant lights of this thriving community. The Martha O’Bryan Center works to break the cycle of city poverty, with early childhood and adult education, after-school mentoring, recreational activities and more. So we are helping them raise awareness and donations with a citywide campaign entitled “Break The Line,” which encourages East Nashville to take care of its own by supporting these highly effective community programs.
Training and repairing the lives of women who have taken wrong turns or come from adverse circumstances is the mission of the Christian Women’s Job Corps. And we felt it was an important one – for the women who participate and for the future of our city. So when asked to develop a new identity and awareness for the cause, we didn’t hesitate. Today, CWJC has a 73 percent retention rate, and hundreds more women have become success stories instead of statistics as a result.
Burma Shave-inspired type, Tennessee-fluent headlines and spectacular photography of native farms and land in their natural state created a strategic collision of two worlds that tells the whole story of this land-conservation organization’s work; namely, the preservation and protection of the natural beauty that drew many of us to Tennessee in the first place.
Several of our villagers are rescue dog adopters themselves, so we developed a campaign that was as much a personal commitment to activism as it was advertising. The work won several ADDYs, and was featured in Communication Arts’ Exhibit pages. Proof that dogs can also be a man’s best friend.
